sarashina_nikkiSo, this is a new project as part of my ongoing endeavor to become functionally literate in Japanese. Translation!
I downloaded this book from aarinfantasy and, tbh, I don't even know what it's about. The cover leads me to believe it's some kind of high fantasy adventure, and getting it off of aarinfantasy leads me to believe there's going to be BL in here somewhere. Other than that, idk. So, we'll see. Might be fun :D?

Rioh: He was raised in the sacred temple of Saval, the kingdom of the gods. He's a boy who is divinely beautiful, with no trace of artifice. He's the illegitimate child of the Heavenly Emperor.
月花：神の国サバールの美貌の神官。莉央を実の兄のように見守る。少年の頃、悠仁と親友でもあった。
Gekka: the beautiful priest of Saval, the kingdom of the gods. He watches over Rioh like a true older brother. When he was a boy, he was also best friends with Yuujin.
悠仁：軍事列国ガルトの若き将軍。少年の頃、一年だけサバールに留学し、月花と親しくしていた。月花をなによりも大切に思っている。
Yuujin: the young general of the military states of Galt. When he was a boy, he spent one year studying in Saval and became close with Gekka. Gekka is the person he cherishes above all else.
昂顕：急速に軍事力をつけつつある、農業国家エスタル共和国の元首。天帝汪真の遠縁にあたる。ガルトを敵対視している。
Kouken: the ruler of the agrarian Estal Republic, in the process of rapidly developing his country's military strength. He is a distant relative of Oushin, the Heavenly Emperor. He keeps a hostile eye on Galt.
叡帝：軍事列国ガルトの大帝。父を殺して、大帝になったと噂される。享楽主義者でいつも退屈しているが。。。悠仁の親友でもある。呼び名は清寿。
Eidai (Imperial Emperor): the great emperor of the military states of Galt. It's rumored that he murdered his father to become the great emperor. He's a hedonist and is always bored, but.... Yuujin is a close friend of his as well. His given name is Shinju.

聖地サバールのアスラ山で天命を受けたイリハは、一天四海を治めるべく理の兵を挙げ、わずか数百の供を従え出立する。幾多の困難があるも神官セイカの神託に助けられたイリハは、数多の国を平定していく。
The beginning of the present world.
In the holy land of Saval at Mt. Asra, Illia receives Heaven's Decree and raises the Soldiers of Justice to govern the universe, with only a few hundred attendants to accompany their departure. Illia, helped by the oracle, Priest Seika, in his many difficulties, then begins to subjugate a multitude of lands.
百年の歳月をかけ、やがて最後の地、ラドルクに辿り着く。ここに世界の安寧秩序が約束された。ラドルクの地で即位したイリハは名を神斉しんさいと改め、初代天帝となれば、神官セイカもまた大神官となり長く天帝に仕えた。以後、万世一系の天帝に、一世一人の大神官が必ず選ばれる仕来りが連綿と受け継がれることになる。
After 100 years, soon Illia will finally reach the final land, Radoluk. Here it was promised to keep law and order in the world. In the land of Radoluk, the enthroned Illia held a ceremony to replace his name. He became the First Heavenly Emperor and Seika also became the Great Priest, serving the Heavenly Emperor for many years. Thereafter, the custom of continuous succession was decided and each generation, without exception, the unbroken imperial line selects one person to become the Great Priest.
古より、主国ラトルクとその直轄領である聖地サバールは一体であり、表裏であり、陰陽であった。時代がどれほど移ろおうとも、世の真理は永劫変わることはない。
Since antiquity, the realm of Radoluk and that directly controlled dominion, the holy land Saval, have been united as one: two sides of the same coin, yin and yang, the sun and moon. No matter how many ages fade away, this is the eternal truth of the world that will never change.

Chapter 1
四頭立ての馬車が、乾いた砂の大地を蹴って北西へとひた走る。正方形の角を落としたような形の馬車の両面には、Sの文字と飛び立つ鳥を象徴した紋章が刻まれている。神の国サバールの、王族の馬車であるという印だ。
Kicking up dried sand, the four horse carriage speeds northwest. The shape of the carriage is of a square with the corners removed, and on both sides a coat of arms is engraved, the letter S and the symbol of a bird taking flight. This seal states that the carriage belongs to the royal family of Saval, the kingdom of the gods.
この印がある限り、たとえ世界じゅうどこを走ろうと行く手を阻まれることはない。永代神国サバールの馬車を阻むことは、天帝と、そして神の行く手を阻むことを意味する。
With this seal, even if they rode all over the world, their path cannot be hindered. To obstruct the carriage of the eternal kingdom of Saval means to obstruct the path of the Heavenly Emperor, and God.
サバールの神殿を出発して半日。あと少しばかりで目的地ラトルクに到着する。
It's been half a day since their departure from the sacred temple of Saval. It's only a bit farther until they arrive at their destination, Radoluk.
右へ左へと激しく揺られながら、月花は両手を組み、自分の肩にあるまだ幼さの残った面差しに目を細めた。「莉央、疲れた？」
As he is jolted violently from side to side, Gekka clasps his hands together and narrows his eyes at the still childish face resting on his shoulder. "Rioh, are you tired?"
「ん？」うつらうつらしながら莉央は、窓から外の景色に目をやる。
"Hm?" Nodding off, Rioh looks through the window towards the scenery outside.
肩までの金の髪はやわらかで、ゆっくりと梳いているうち月花の口許は自然に綻ぶ。くっきりとした目許とばら色の頬、桜色の小ぶりの唇を見つめていると、その愛らしさに胸が温かくなる。
While he gently, slowly untangles the golden hair falling to his shoulders, Gekka's mouth widens spontaneously into a broad smile. Upon gazing at those sharp eyes, rose-colored cheeks, and small cherry blossom mouth, his chest warms from the sweetness.
十六歳の莉央は、サバールで大事に育てられたこともあってか、年齢のわりに幼い印象がある。
月花にしてみれば、いつまでたっても可愛い莉央でいてくれることは内心、心地よく、自分でも気づかぬ間に子供扱いをしてしまう。
16 year old Rioh, perhaps because he was raised so indulgently in Saval, has an appearance that is very young in comparison to his actual age. In Gekka's eyes, no matter how much time passes, whenever in Rioh's charming presence his mind is set at ease, and before he realizes it he'll find himself babying Rioh.
「平気。あ。。。月花、夜が明けるね。」
"Fine. Oh... Gekka, dawn is breaking."
月花も莉央の視線を追いかけ、輪郭がうっすらとよみがえってきた山の頂へと視線を向けた。橙色の膜が張ったかのように、薄闇の中、頂は徐々に明確になっていく。春先の乾いた空気に映される日の出を莉央とともに眺めながら、これから向かう国のことを考えていた。
Gekka follows Rioh's gaze, looking towards the mountain top as its silhouette becomes faintly visible again. As if an orange film were forming, in the dim light the summit slowly becomes distinct. Together with Rioh, he watches the emerging sun reflected in the dry atmosphere of early spring and his thoughts turn toward the approaching country.

Notes: So, it turns out my approach to name transliteration is pretty haphazard. I mainly just played around with different letter combinations until I came up with things I found aesthetically pleasing. :X Eh, whatev, katakana representations of made-up faux-Western-sounding fantasy names are kind of a lost cause to begin with IMO.
Reading back over this, lol wow, my translations suck. Really stilted, and I'm having all sorts of tense problems. And I feel like there's an overabundance of random capitalization. Well, I guess that's the point right? You can't improve at anything without practice.
Naturally, if anyone reading this speaks better Japanese than I do, then by all means feel free to comment on my doubtlessly legion mistakes.
